Intimacy Choreography

I strive to help actors create a safe space to explore their characters and the emotional attachment to each other while staying true to the story and telling the narrative. I am proud to say that, so far, I have 22 hours of training through Theatrical Intimacy Education and Intimacy Directors & Choreographers!

My Process
I begin by reading the play and getting a solid understanding of who the characters are and what they want within the play - especially the scenes with intimacy. With the actors, we then create different movements that will support the characters and tell the story. Following that, I meet with the director to go over ideas and make sure the choreography I have created supports the blocking and the story.
When I start to meet with the actors, I start with a boundary practice and let them know all the terminology we will be using when blocking. These terms are all de-sexualized and somewhat quirky to help relieve any apprehension they may be feeling throughout the process. We then begin to collaborate to strengthen their characters and build the scene!
